Meet John Craig, our UK Sales Manager who joined us in 1995.

When did you join Haes?

I joined Haes in 1995 as a field sales engineer and became UK Sales Manager in 2010.

Describe a typical day out on the road?

I am not sure there is a typical day out on the road.  My role is very varied and interesting.  Sometimes I have to come into the office for meetings or to catch up with the sales team, so that means quite an early start.  I usually leave home at about 6:00 A.M.  Other times I have to meet clients on site, to advise or help with system design or site surveys for wireless systems etc.

How many clients do you see in a day?

If I’m visiting my customers, I usually like to see around 5 or 6 in a day, which again means quite an early start.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I get to meet lots of interesting people!  Having been in the fire industry pretty much all my working life, it is a subject I am passionate about.  I have a lot of knowledge and experience, which I enjoy being able to use to help my clients. Being UK Sales Manager I am fortunate to ‘head up’ a really great team, including four Key Account Managers and four internal Customer Support Advisors.

Do you have monthly sales targets?

Yes, obviously!

Describe your role in three words?

Varied, interesting, enjoyable.

Describe what it’s like to work for Haes?

As I have now been with Haes for over 20 years, I think that speaks for itself!  As a family-run business, Haes is a great company to work for.  They invest heavily in growing the business, with an ever-growing R & D department, and have recently moved into new larger premises, with a huge distribution warehouse.  It is a pleasure to be part of the team.

What are your goals and ambitions for the company?

To continue to be part of the team and help grow the business as we push into new export territories and new technologies outside the standard fire alarm system.
